Torrance Company Plans an Oceanfront Cultural Destination in Japan |
OFA Group’s long-term vision combines music, hospitality, education, wellness and senior living |

A Torrance-based architecture and development company is working on an ambitious project nearly 5,500 miles away.
OFA Group has unveiled a long-term plan for an oceanfront cultural destination in Choshi City, Japan, bringing together classical music, education, hospitality, wellness and residential development.
Rather than proposing one standalone building, OFA describes the project as a phased destination made up of several interconnected pieces.
Classical music would serve as the cultural centerpiece. The company says it is already in early discussions with producers and organizers about multi-year programming that could begin as soon as 2028.
Another major component is a proposed private-pay senior living community near the coast in Choshi’s Tokawa area.
That portion of the project remains under a provisional agreement with Choshi City and still requires municipal approval. Site planning and regulatory review are underway.
OFA also envisions educational programs tied to the arts, along with hospitality designed to attract visitors and support longer stays.
Several pieces remain early-stage, so this should be viewed as a development roadmap rather than a completed project.
But the scale is notable.
OFA is a publicly traded architecture, real-estate and technology company with operations centered partly around artificial intelligence and construction technology, and its U.S. operations are based in Torrance.
That makes this another example of a Torrance company using the city as a base for projects with an international reach.
