Torrance Farmers’ Market Turns Into a Pie Showdown |
Bakers compete Tuesday morning — followed by a pie-eating contest |

Tuesday morning at the Torrance Certified Farmers’ Market will involve more than produce bags and breakfast stops.
The City is hosting its 4th Annual Pie Contest on Tuesday, September 29, with local bakers invited to bring their best homemade creations to Wilson Park. Pie entries are due at the market information booth by 9 a.m., with judging beginning at 10 a.m.
Then comes the part spectators may enjoy most.
At 11 a.m., Discover Torrance is sponsoring a pie-eating contest, giving visitors a chance to cheer on contestants racing through dessert.
The event takes place during the regular Tuesday Farmers’ Market, which runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and features California growers, prepared food vendors and specialty products.
That makes this an easy weekday outing: browse the market, watch the judging, then stay for the messier competition.
