Pets are taking center stage at the James R. Armstrong Theatre this weekend — although the animals themselves will mostly appear through stories.

“Unleashed: True Stories About the Animals We Love” arrives Saturday, October 3, bringing together writers, actors, comedians and storytellers for an e

vening built around the animals that changed their lives.

Producer Wendy Hammers returns after previous Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation productions centered on dogs and cats.

This new show broadens the concept, mixing rescue stories, comic pet disasters, loyal companions and emotional memories.

The timing is intentional: the performance takes place the day before World Animal Day on October 4.

Tickets are listed at $25, $30 and $35, depending on seating section.

The Armstrong Theatre is located at 3330 Civic Center Drive.

For anyone whose pet is unquestionably a member of the family, this may be one of the easiest shows of the season to relate to.
