A free afternoon of live symphonic music is coming to Torrance this Sunday.

The Palos Verdes Symphonic Band will present its new program, Skyward, on Sunday, October 11 at 4 p.m. at The Salvation Army Torrance Corps, 4223 Emerald Street.

The concert is built around music that moves from powerful, soaring passages to quieter pieces designed to create a sense of floating above the everyday. 

The ensemble includes musicians from across the South Bay, ranging from teachers and stu

dents to engineers, physicians and professional performers.

Admission and parking are both free, making this one of the easier events to add to a weekend schedule.

For residents who enjoy live music but do not necessarily want the formality or price of a traditional concert hall, this is a particularly good Events Radar pick.
