Torrance Home Prices Are Finally Showing Some Give |
September data point to lower prices and longer selling times—but buying a Torrance home is still far from inexpensive. |

For Torrance homebuyers who have been waiting for some relief, September delivered at least a little.
The city's median sold price was approximately $1.085 million, according to Realtor.com market data for September 2026.
That was about 2.8% lower than a year earlier and 3.6% below the previous month.
The change is even more noticeable in asking prices.
Torrance's median listing price stood at roughly $952,000, down about 9.6% year over year.
Homes spent a median of 44 days on the market, slightly longer than a year earlier.
That does not mean Torrance has suddenly turned into a buyer's bargain.
Homes were still selling for approximately 100% of asking price on average, and Realtor.com continued to classify Torrance as a seller's market in September.
There is also another major obstacle for buyers: mortgage rates.
The average U.S. 30-year fixed mortgage rate recently climbed above 7%, according to Freddie Mac data reported by Reuters. Higher borrowing costs can dramatically change what a buyer can afford even when home prices decline.
For example, a price reduction of several percent may look substantial on paper, but part—or all—of that savings can disappear if the interest rate on the mortgage rises.
Sellers are feeling the shift too.
Nationally, more than one in five sellers cut their asking price during September, the highest share since 2018, as high mortgage rates caused some buyers to pull back.
Torrance remains its own market, and individual neighborhoods can behave very differently.
But the September numbers suggest something important:
The days when sellers could automatically assume prices would keep climbing quickly may be fading.
For buyers, that could mean a little more negotiating room.
For sellers, it makes pricing the home correctly from the beginning increasingly important.
Homefront Bottom Line
Torrance housing is still expensive. But for the first time in a while, several indicators are moving in buyers' favor at the same time: lower asking prices, slightly lower sale prices and more time on the market.
The big wildcard remains mortgage rates.
