Torrance High School Closed to Students Friday, October 16: Families Should Check Their Calendars

Families with students attending Torrance High School should be aware of an upcoming change to the regular school schedule.

Friday, October 16, 2026, is designated as a No School — Local Non-Instructional Day on Torrance High School's official calendar.

Students should not expect their usual Friday classroom schedule.

Which Students Are Affected?

The confirmed notice comes from Torrance High School's individual calendar.

It should not be interpreted as a districtwide closure affecting every school in the Torrance Unified School District.

Families with children attending other Torrance schools should consult those campuses' calendars for any separate schedule changes.

What Happens After October 16?

Torrance High School's calendar identifies Friday, October 23, as the end of the first quarter.

That means students will return to a school week leading into the conclusion of the grading period.

Families may want to review classroom announcements, assignment deadlines, and teacher communications.

Why Check the Official Calendar?

School calendars can differ by campus, particularly when local instructional schedules, examinations, or special activities are involved.

Checking the school's official website helps families avoid relying on outdated calendars or assuming every campus follows an identical schedule.

The most important reminder: Torrance High students have no regular classes on Friday, October 16.
