A Schedule Change Adult Learners Should Know About

If you attend morning classes at Torrance Adult School, mark your calendar for Thursday, October 22, 2026.

The school's official October calendar lists a staff professional development day and specifically states that no morning classes will be held.

The notice is particularly important for students who travel to campus, arrange transportation, or organize work and family responsibilities around their classes.

Why Are Morning Classes Canceled?

The school has designated October 22 for staff professional development.

Such days provide opportunities for educators and staff to participate in training, planning, and professional activities.

The calendar confirms the morning-class interruption but does not provide further details about the training.

Does This Affect Afternoon or Evening Classes?

The published notice specifically identifies morning classes.

It does not establish that all afternoon and evening instruction is canceled.

Students attending later classes should confirm their schedules directly with the school rather than assuming their sessions are affected.

Which Campuses Should Students Contact?

Torrance Adult School operates three locations:

• Hamilton Adult Center: 2606 W. 182nd Street — (310) 533-4689, ext. 8400.
• Griffith Adult Center: 2291 Washington Avenue — (310) 533-4689, ext. 8300.
• Levy Adult Center: 3420 W. 229th Place — (310) 533-4689, ext. 8200.

Students uncertain about their class schedule can contact their campus for clarification.

The Bottom Line

Before leaving home Thursday morning, October 22, check your Torrance Adult School schedule.

Morning classes are not scheduled that day because of staff professional development.

Students with later classes should verify whether their normal instruction will take place.

A quick schedule check could save an unnecessary trip.
