Police Appeal for Information Following Torrance Shooting

The Torrance Police Department is asking for the public's assistance following a shooting that occurred during an early-morning gathering on October 4, 2026.

Officers responded at approximately 12:45 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the 3200 block of Danaha Street, where a large party was underway.

When officers arrived, they found an adult woman who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

The Torrance Fire Department transported her for medical treatment. Police described her injury as non-life-threatening and said she was expected to recover fully.

What Happened?

According to the department's preliminary investigation, the shooting followed an altercation in the street involving individuals attending the gathering.

During the confrontation, gunfire erupted, and the woman was grazed by a bullet.

Police emphasized that the incident was not believed to be a drive-by shooting.

The department also stated that investigators had found no indication the shooting was random or that there was an ongoing threat to the surrounding community.

What Are Investigators Looking For?

Detectives interviewed witnesses, collected statements, reviewed video evidence, and pursued leads to identify the person responsible.

In its October 5 announcement, the department reported that investigators were seeking a male suspect believed to be approximately 16–20 years old.

The public appeal particularly emphasized information or video footage that could help establish what happened.

How Can Residents Help?

Anyone with firsthand information, photographs, or video evidence relating to the shooting can contact:

Detective Chance, Torrance Police Department: (310) 618-5570

Residents wishing to submit information anonymously can contact LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Residents should provide information directly to investigators rather than attempting to identify or confront anyone themselves.

Has the Investigation Been Resolved?

The department's October 5 announcement requested public assistance, and I have not identified a subsequent official update confirming an arrest or resolution.

The absence of an update does not necessarily mean the case remains unresolved.

Anyone considering submitting a tip should consult the department's current information.

A Reminder About Community Safety

The department's announcement underscores the importance of witness cooperation during criminal investigations.

Video footage, even when it appears insignificant to the person who recorded it, may help investigators reconstruct events.

For Torrance residents, the most useful action is to share credible firsthand information with the authorities while avoiding speculation about those involved.
