If your ideal Saturday involves discovering something delicious, Old Torrance may be the place to be this weekend.

The South Bay Mediterranean Food Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, September 12, at St. M

atthew Orthodox Christian Church, 2368 Sonoma Street.

Admission is free, with food, beverages and selected activities available for purchase. Organizers are promising a day built around authentic Mediterranean food, live music and family entertainment, including a Kid Zone.

Previous editions have featured favorites such as falafel, beef and chicken shawarma, Greek and Italian salads, baklava and Mediterranean pastries—so arriving hungry would probably be wise.

The festival runs for eight hours, making this less of a quick food stop and more of a relaxed neighborhood celebration where visitors can eat, listen to music and wander back for another plate.

And with free admission, you can decide how ambitious you want that plate to become.
