L.A. Times Puts Torrance in the Spotlight |
A new city guide turns Torrance pride into a destination story |

Torrance just received some major regional attention—and this time the story isn’t about traffic, housing or City Hall.
The Los Angeles Times has added Torrance to its “This must be the place” collection of guides to Southern California communities. Staff writer Karen Garcia’s Torrance edition was published August 26, offering readers a curated introduction to the city and the local character behind it.
The larger Times series is built around places its writers personally explore, with recommendations spanning restaurants, shops, outdoor spaces and landmarks.
Perhaps the best part for Buzz readers is seeing a familiar city through somebody else’s eyes. Torrance can sometimes be overshadowed by its beach-city neighbors or simply treated as another large South Bay suburb. The guide instead makes the case that the combination of local history, food, neighborhoods and long-running traditions gives Torrance an identity all its own.
