Overnight Freeway Closures Could Snarl South Bay Trips |
SR-91, I-110 connectors and the Vincent Thomas Bridge all face nighttime disruptions this week |

Torrance drivers making nighttime trips toward the Harbor Area, Long Beach or points east should allow extra time this week.
Caltrans has scheduled a substantial series of overnight lane, ramp and freeway-connector closures along SR-91 from Gardena through Cerritos, beginning Tuesday night, September 8.
Several of the closures directly affect connections Torrance-area drivers commonly use. The eastbound SR-91 connector to southbound I-110 may close overnight, as can the westbound SR-91 connectors to both northbound and southbound I-110. The northbound and southbound I-110 connectors to westbound SR-91 are also scheduled for closures during portions of the work.
Lane reductions continue through Saturday morning, September 12, with some stretches reduced to only two open lanes.
There is another major disruption closer to the Port.
Caltrans plans to completely close southbound SR-47 across the Vincent Thomas Bridge overnight Tuesday through Friday morning, from approximately 10:45 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. Traffic will be detoured toward Pacific Coast Highway and I-110.
If you travel those routes late at night or early in the morning, checking conditions before leaving could save a frustrating detour.
