Metro is offering free rides on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Its announcement covers Metro buses, trains, Micro and Bike Share. For Torrance-area residents, that is a useful option to check before making a trip, but it should not be read as a fare waiver across every transit agency in the region.

Metro says no fares will be collected on its buses and trains that day. Micro bookings through its app will also be free without a promotional code. Bike Share riders can use code 110326 for a free 30-minute, single-ride trip through the app, website or kiosk. A credit or debit card is required, and longer rides can incur charges.

Before heading out, use Metro’s trip planner to enter your actual starting point and destination. Check the route, transfers and return journey rather than assuming the nearest stop provides a direct trip. Metro’s riding resources include maps, schedules, arrival information and service alerts. Those tools are particularly useful when a journey depends on a connection.

Check which agency operates each leg. This announcement is about Metro, not a separate confirmation that Torrance Transit or another municipal operator will suspend fares. A route may be convenient without every part being free. Also confirm whether an on-demand service covers your pickup and destination before counting on it.

If you do not regularly ride the bus, Metro’s guide recommends arriving early at the marked stop and checking the destination sign before boarding. Let the bus stop fully and make yourself visible to the operator. About a block before your destination, use the stop button or cord. Keep bags out of aisles and doorways.

Metro says its buses and trains are wheelchair accessible, with ramps and securement assistance available on buses. Check station access and current alerts when planning a rail connection. The simplest preparation is a complete outward and return itinerary, including a backup connection if needed. Free fares help, but route coverage and timing still determine whether the trip works.
